Are there rules about haircuts/hairstyle in US schools?

In some countries not only students have to wear a uniform but also have to cut their hair in certain way and length; much like in military is it the same in use or there aren't any ruls or regulations regarding students' hairstyle
In America they have thousands of public school districts and countless private schools with their own rules. In general, public schools probably don't have restrictions about hair, while private schools might.

Funny you should say that. A friend had a 2 foot mohawk in high school and she never got hassled for it. She was a good student though and well-liked. You get less leeway if you're an asshole.
Yeah I dyed my hair in middle school a pastel pink and got kicked out until it was dyed back to a normal colour. My dad just sent me to another school lol. Was a public school as well, but it was 2011.
My school had a rule that your hair must be a natural color. It didn’t have to be your natural color, but it had to be a natural hair color, so blond and black were fine, blue and green were not.
My public school in the 1990s had rules about natural hair colors and hair height couldn’t restrict the view of the person sitting behind you in class. The natural hair colors didn’t mean you had to keep your natural hair color but that you had to have a color that naturally occurs in human hair. The hair height rule apparently dated back to when beehive hairstyles were popular.
